If you’re finding it hard to stick to your New Year’s Resolution, you might be relieved to know you’re not the only one.
A recent survey conducted by Glossybox revealed that 42% of women have broken a resolution but didn’t admit it and some went to extreme lengths to keep the secret.
14% admitted to hiding in a loo or cupboard and 12% set an alarm in the middle of the night so they could break their resolution without anyone knowing.
The survey involved 7,200 female Glossybox subscribers with an average age of 28 .
Popular resolutions included getting fit and saving money but the results also revealed that 16% of those surveyed wanted to end a bad relationship and 12% hoped to change jobs to remove themselves from problems in the workplace.
72% of women said they were the sole influencers in choosing their resolutions and only 2% were influenced by celebrities.
13% kept to their resolutions for the entire year but 72% caved after a couple of months and 19% called it quits in the first week.
Those surveyed said that laziness, pressure from friends and the cost of maintaining resolutions were among the reasons for breaking their New Year’s promise.
So if you’re finding it tough to stick to yours, don’t worry because there’s plenty of people feeling exactly the same.
Oh and just because it’s Friday and we’re all about the giving, we’ve teamed up with Glossybox to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a year’s subscription to the monthly beauty box service.
