Forget Balayage – This Hair Technique Is Going To Be Big News Next Year

It's very pretty.

Balayage has been a very popular hair trend in recent times but it sounds like “shimmering” could be about to take over.

The folk over at Refinery 29 spoke to colourist Chad Kenyon recently who explained how this new hair technique is the perfect way to update a standard balayage look.

He explained that he came up with the idea for some of his clients who wanted highlights but also wanted to mix it up a little.

Interestingly, Chad chooses colours and shades that will best enhance your facial features and skin tone…sounds pretty dreamy to us.

Speaking to the site, he said: “I color hair with the mindset of a makeup artist, in that I choose tones and placement that will enhance your best features and skin tone, while I simultaneously diffuse or ‘pull focus’ from those features you’re not ‘obsessed with”.

He also uses some of the prettiest colours going, including rose gold, lilac, coral and pearl and these can then be matched with some of the more commons tones you’ll have heard of such as ash, icy, and warm.

This definitely sounds like something we’ll have to run past our stylists next time we visit!
