A revolutionary beauty technique is about to take over contouring

It's VERY pretty

Cathy Donohue

Heya draping.

Meet the latest makeup technique that’s making waves in the beauty industry, brought to us by none other than Mr Marc Jacobs himself.

In a statement released by the brand this week, MJ Beauty explained how draping is all about emphasising the ‘natural drape’ of the face.

Although it’s quite a daring trend as you’re using colour, the key to making it work, similar to contouring, is blending. Blend, blend, blend.

This summer, the brand will release Air Blush Soft Glow Duo, a blush duo which can be used to sculpt and shade the face.

You use the darker shade to chisel your cheekbones and then go in with a blending brush to buff the lighter shade over the darker colour.

To be fair, it sounds a lot easier than painting lines and stripes all over your face but of course, going overboard with blush can lend to clown cheeks too.

According to Teen Vogue, the product is made using a French technique entitled “soufflage” which basically means an air-whipped formula that mixes with all complexions.

Soft and creamy, draping will please anyone who finds contouring harsh and prefers the pretty effect.

With the launch of this product, the brand is commemorating an important figure in the beauty industry, Wandy Bey.

Although you might think contouring originated with the Kardashians, it’s actually down to Wandy, a makeup guru who worked with many a famous face, including Farrah Fawcett and Cher.

Marc was friends with Wandy and so he’s intent that people recognise the work he did in the beauty world and has created a product to honour him.

The duo will land at Sephora in the coming weeks and I’m loving the sound of that ‘fresh-faced’ glow.
