Choosing a foundation to wear on your wedding day is no easy task.

There are any number of suitable options but these are the key things to keep in mind – you’ll want something that feels comfortable on your skin and a formula that looks good in photos, these are snaps you’ll have for the rest of your life after all.

When chatting about bridal beauty, makeup artists tend to mention radiance, that elusive ‘glow’, luminous skin that looks lit from within – sounds like the perfect combination really.

Some foundations are heavier than others and when it comes to wedding day makeup, you might want to steer away from traditional matte foundations and try something a little lighter.

Expert advice is essential when it comes to bridal makeup and Warren Dowdall, senior pro artist for Bobbi Brown, gave us some of his top tips for choosing a foundation.

“On your wedding day, you really want to look like the best version of yourself. Use elements of your everyday look and add a extra touch of glamour on your feature of choice”.

“For bridal makeup, the most important thing for me is radiant glowing skin. I love Intensive Skin Serum Foundation as it adds light, radiance and luminosity while it’s also humidity resistant”.

SJ Froom, International Pro Artist for BareMinerals, says that wearing white for your makeup trial is key as it will give you a much better indication of how your chosen look will appear on the day itself.

A simple tip perhaps but choosing what outfit to wear for a preparation trial probably isn’t on your priority list, not with the million and one other things you have going on.

“Wear a white or cream t-shirt for your make up trial, depending on the colour of your dress. This will give you a better idea of how it will all look on the big day”.

SJ also shared her favourite pick for a bridal foundation with Her.

“A heavy foundation may look nice at a photoshoot, but not outside in daylight, so really consider your setting and what will work for your day. If in doubt, less is more! The bareMinerals barePRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation is a great option, as it offers medium-to-full coverage with a naturally matte finish, but feels lightweight on the skin so you’ll barely notice you’re wearing it”.
