So as we all know, Ladies’ Day at the Galway races is almost here, and we’re starting to get seriously excited.
Partly because Her is sponsoring the Best Dressed Competition this year, but mainly because it’s a great day out.
When it comes to Ladies’ Day, people tend to think of the style and fashion – but I’m here to tell you that your makeup is just as important. Especially if you want to make yourself a contender in Ballybrit on August 1st!
And that’s where I come in, as Her‘s beauty editor, I’m here to assist you in getting the most out of your makeup on Ladies’ Day.
When it comes to getting that perfect face of makeup, we can get a bit overwhelmed. Fair enough to be honest, there’s a lot to take in.
So I decided to help, by looking through Pinterest for some makeup inspiration for all you gorgeous humans.
Hollywood Classic.
Sometimes, all you need is a killer red lip. If you want to embrace your inner Marilyn Monroe, a pop of red on the lips is the key. Pair it with a subtle smokey eye, curls and a demure pose – you’re on to a winner.
Keep in natural.
If your outfit of choice has a lot going on (we hope it does!) then keeping your makeup look natural might be the key to success. We’re talking pinky nude lips, soft brown eyeshadow, fluffy brows and bronzer. So stunning, and so simple.
When in doubt, add glitter.
Who needs jewellery, really? If you want to add a hint of glam to your look, without using accessories, why not lash some glitter into your makeup look? Such a fun and easy way to jazz up an outfit.
Dewy goodness.
Matte skin is so last year ladies. I am ALL about a dewy, sun kissed glow this summer. Use a gorgeous strobe cream on your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and on your Cupid’s bow for that gorgeous pop. If you don’t have a strobe cream, you can apply a bit of moisturiser to the areas, followed by a bit of powdered highlight.
Colour pop, anyone?
Are you keeping things simple with your outfit this year? Well then why not go ALL out with your makeup? Nothing beats a fun and bright pop of colour on the eyes (obsessed with the turquoise and lilac combination here btw!)
Sunset inspiration.
I LOVE a burnt orange eyeshadow! It’s one of those colours that pretty much suits every skin tone, and kind of goes with any outfit too. It’s warm and gorgeous – like yourself eh?
Play with your eyeliner.
White eyeliner is a trend that I adore, mainly because it makes your eyes look massive. Plus, it’s a bit different, and if you want to win a prize, you want to stand out!
