The Swinging Sixties inspired many fashion innovations and crazes, but when it comes to the beauty trends of the decade it’s one look that stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Pioneered by the most famous model of them all at the time, a flawless canvas and nude lips let dramatic eyeliner and lashes do all the talking. It’s a look that has never dated, and half a century after Twiggy took to the runways her signature look is back in vogue and bang on trend.
A quintessential London look, there is no beauty brand better to turn to in order to recreate that image than RIMMEL. Consistently going above and beyond in terms of bang for your buck, RIMMEL have given us some beauty bag absolute must-haves over the years, so now we’re taking a look at how you can nail the Retro trend with our favourite RIMMEL products.

This look is inspired by the legacy of 60s model of the moment, Twiggy
Step One: Create a flawless canvas by applying Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation, (€7.99), to skin using a foundation brush, and set using a light dusting of Stay Matte Powder.
Step Two: Apply Exaggerate Shadow Primer, (€5.99), all over the eyelid to help your shadow set and stay. Next, apply ScandalEyes Shadow Paint, (€6.49), in Mercury Silver all over the eyelid. Don’t hold back, this look is all about drama.
Step Three: Wait at least thirty seconds to make sure your shadow is fully dry and set, then take the ScandalEyes Thick and Thin Eyeliner, (€6.99), in Black and draw three simple lines; the first above the eye along the lash line, using the thick side of the eyeliner. Continue along the eyelid crease, still using the thick tip of the eyeliner. Then, along the bottom lash line use from thick to thin, from outside corner to inner corner of the eye.
Step Four: Next, apply ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara, (€8.99), in Black. The innovative hour-glass shaped brush echoes the lash line, and works to push lashes up and out to create that signature wide-eyed and false lash look.
Step Five: Finish off the look with a manicure that’s sure to prove a talking point. Paint your nails with 60 Seconds, (€4.99) in Silver Bullet, then use the side brush of 60 Seconds in Black Out to reproduce the half moon and outline the edge of the nail.
Now all you need is a miniskirt and a night on the town to show off your look!
Rimmel is available in Penneys, Tesco and pharmacies nationwide.
