Sleep with your hair in this style for a guaranteed good hair day

It's so easy too.

Trine Jensen-Burke

The ‘ballet bun’ will always be a go-to easy hairstyle.

It’s simple, easy to perfect and somehow manages to look Parisian chic at all times.

Pair it with a Breton top, faded jeans and loafers and your off-duty style is sorted.

We would be lost without this hairstyle but did you know that you should, in fact, also be sleeping with your hair twisted into a knot?

According to the experts, sleeping with your hair in a bun has all sorts of benefits, including…

1. No more messy hair in the morning

Sleeping in a loose bun prevents your hair from getting messed up during the night.

2. It combats frizz

If you tend to wake up looking like you slept with your fingers in the electric socket, sleeping with your hair in a bun will be a lifesaver. If you loose hair isn’t rubbing against your pillowcase (remember cotton sucks moisture from your hair, silk is better) at night, you will have less frizz. That’s a simple fact.

3. It softens your hair

Like braiding, the bun helps to trap moisture in your hair. The best option is to use an old-school scrunchie as it is gentle on the hair and it wouldn’t create weird creases.

4. It adds texture

If you twirl your hair into a bun before bedtime, you will wake up the next morning and be able just to remove your scrunchie and shake out some beautiful loose waves. Tip: Rub some texture cream into your damp hair before you start, and you will look like a total babe when you wake up. Promise.

5. It adds volume

Sleeping with your hair twisted into a bun will make all sorts of texture and bouncy waves happen in your hair. Your roots will be gently lifted while you sleep, so your hair will naturally be more voluminous the next morning. Meaning; when you let your locks free, you will (almost!) look like you just had a blow-dry done. Just let down, spray and go. Hello, hot mama!
