Check out our cleanser picks.

Put a group of women together and you’re guaranteed plenty of chat.

The Her.ie team have been known to chat about bra sizes, embarrassing crushes and everything in between.

Tried and tested beauty products often come up in conversation, which can be very helpful when you want to find out about a certain item before purchasing.

Now that we’ve talked about our favourite make-up products, we’re moving on to skincare and this week we have discussed our favourite cleansing products.

Expensive taste, I know. The Clarisonic Mia 2 (€149) is one of my best beauty buys of all time though, so in the grand scheme of things, I’m ranking it as “worth it”. The Clarisonic Cleansing System uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second, working with the skin’s natural elasticity to thoroughly remove the impurities that come between you and smoother, healthier looking skin. This baby cleanses six times better than manual cleansing and helps to reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. I can get very lazy when it comes to proper cleansing, but after one good week of using this daily (along with my beloved Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm), my skin is back to its best. And what price would you put on that?

Having shopped around for years for a cleanser that was right for my skin, I finally found No7 Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser for Normal/ Oily Skin. Not only does it remove my make-up but it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated without leading to spots. At €11.75, it doesn’t break the bank either!

I use Garnier 2-in-1 Gentle Makeup Remover, (€3.89). It’s got a make-up removal oil and a cleansing water in one that you shake together but it literally takes off all of your make up, even the difficult permanent eye liner stuff.

As someone with combination skin, I had struggled to find a cleanser that easily removed make-up without making my skin feel dry or leaving a residue. I got a tip-off about salon brand Payot about a year ago and have been a firm fan of the Gel Démaquillant D’Tox (€23) ever since. This lightweight gel contains grapefruit extract and is great for removing product and oil, leaving you with a clean, fresh face. It’s a little bit more expensive than high street brands but you only need to use a very small amount so the bottle lasts for months – I can’t recommend this enough!

At the minute I’m using VOYA’s Cleanse and Mend (€25). After being a very loyal user to both L’Oreal and Clarins for quite some time I decided to change up my cleansing routine after meeting with the brains behind the brand late last year. Just like all cleansing creams VOYA  removes surface dirt and impurities, however has an extra mild formula with organic lavender and chamomile that leaves the skin feeling soft, calm and moisturised. Having ultra sensitive skin I could not recommend this enough.

It’s hard to find a good cleanser that actually leaves my skin feeling fresh and removes all traces of make-up without causing dry skin or breakouts. I’ve always been a big fan of Dermalogica but unfortunately, the price tag isn’t always purse friendly. This Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash For Dry and Sensitive Skin (€4.69) is really good value and leaves my skin feeling pretty smooth. large_425d336e-a3d9-4d2f-842d-fb7d967697f5

I’m a bit all over the place when it comes to skin care and have a very bad habit of chopping and changes with different products, so nothing really gets a chance to work. I recently noticed a 20% off Dermalogica offer in a salon at home in Galway so I picked up the Special Cleansing Gel (normally priced at €35). While I haven’t noticed a major difference in my skin, it is a calming product that takes off make-up easily and leaves the skin feeling very clean. It’s fragrance free and non- irritating which is great for my skin which can react to products on occasion.
