Here’s How You Should Be Washing Your Face

Apparently, a tiny change can make all the difference.

Peeling yourself from the cosy cocoon that is your duvet in the morning is never easy and getting to the bathroom is an achievement in itself.

Given the fact we’re still half asleep, we simple splash on some water but we really should be taking more care when it comes to this daily routine.

Facialist Carrie Lindsey recently spoke to Allure and imparted a simple but smart skincare tip.

“I tell my clients to wash their faces with cool-to-lukewarm water, then rinse with cold water to seal and close the pores. Too much heat is never good for the skin” said Lindsey.

A few weeks ago, we had a piece that explained that scalding showers can damage your skin and it seems you should apply the same principle when washing your face.

Dermatologist Judith Hellman is of the same opinion as Lindsey and said: “Hot water dilates the blood vessels and can result in flareups of rosacea and other conditions.

“Washing in general, but especially with hot water, removes the protective layer of lipids over the skin”.

Okay that’s it, cold water ALL the way in future.
