If you suffer from acne, NEVER buy makeup with these two ingredients

Worth noting if your skin gives you trouble.

Now while we all know that makeup clogs your pores, some products can be worse than others and according to the experts, there are two ingredients that are best avoided.

Yep, despite how pretty they look or what they promise, you’ll want to avoid purchasing anything that contains “silicones” or “mica”.

Why?

“Silicones can block pores and make it more likely to break out or get bumpy” according to New York dermatologist Debra Jaliman, MD.

In conversation with Insider, Debra also explained why mica can be detrimental to the skin.

“Mica in powder makeup can irritate sensitive skin. The particles can be rough.”

Another important tip if your skin has a tendency to break out is to use a liquid foundation as opposed to a compact or stick option.

Director of Cosmetic & Clinical Research in Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, Joseph Zeicher, says:

“I recommend getting liquid makeup that comes in a pump and not a cushion or bottle which touches your hands then goes back in the bottle”.

So there you go, put these tips into practice because they come from the experts and they know what they’re talking about.
