Need the next viral make up trend? Don’t worry, we got you.
Latex lips have been popping up online quite a bit in recent weeks and is notably a complete shift from the more relaxed looks we’ve been seeing this year.
From latte make up to the subtle strawberry skin, make up trends over the last few months have been minimal and luxurious – but latex lips are about to change all that.
Latex Lips now has 17m views on TikTok and it’s only set to gather more as autumn hits.
What is the trend?
As we’ve probably all noticed, the shiny lip glosses we thought were gone are slowly coming back onto the scene and we’re kind of here for it.
Matte lips have long gone, with a more sheer and glossy look becoming more prominent.

Latex lips, however, are a step up from this as they are so shiny that they almost don’t seem real. Like actual latex, these give more of a plastic effect but instead use real lips products to create the desired look.
How do I do it?
Ideally, keep the rest of your make up more minimal as these lips will be the centre focus. If we learned anything from 2016, it’s either eyes or lips, there’s no in-between.
Prep your lips with a balm to ensure they are as moist as possible before taking your lip liner and really define your lip shape. You’ll need an outline for this to know exactly where to put the rest of the products.
Then, opt for a gloss that has a nicely pigmented colour. After this, simply add the colour, it’s as easy as filling in the lines, but gives a much more defined look.
