MAC senior artist names the biggest makeup trend of 2018

Cathy Donohue

We LOVE it.

If you’re over sculpted jawlines and chiselled cheekbones, then we have some good news because there’s a new makeup trend for 2018.

Yes, apparently contour could soon get pushed aside to make room for a much prettier look, blush.

While contouring fanatics might be disappointed at this news, we’re happy to see a natural and fresh-faced trend take centre stage.

For a topic like this, we had to call in the makeup experts and MAC Senior Artist Rebecca Butterworth is in the know.

Rebecca says it’s all about blush for 2018 and we can’t wait to get in on this trend.

“Blush is going to have its moment. Blush will become the focus of your make up look rather than just an afterthought. Blush might just be the new contour”.

If you tried to master contouring but just couldn’t get to grips with it, this news will come as a welcome surprise.

Rebecca also says that glitter is key for summer and as festival season is approaching, we’re delighted to hear this.

“Glitter is likely to be a big trend for Spring Summer 18. I used glitter in so many shows during the SS18 season! We used glitter in a very grown-up way, as a way of elevating metallic textures into something a little more futuristic by applying a light dusting of fine glitter over the top of a metallic shadow”.

It might be time for a little makeup spree…
