Monday Motivation: Empowering Glamour Shoot Celebrates Body Diversity

"It's exciting to see the positive change in the industry."

Megan Cassidy

A little motivation of a Monday never goes astray, especially after a heavy weekend. But often images of size zero models strutting down the catwalk can have the opposite effect and send us slouching back to the fridge in despair.

Of course, some women are lucky enough to rock a supermodel body naturally, but loving your body means aspiring to realistic goals that are right for you and celebrating our differences.

That’s why we love this inspiring Glamour Iceland shoot that promotes body diversity and urges us to embrace and celebrate our own unique figures.

The collective is made up of 5 successful international models; Ashley Graham, Marquita Pring, Julie Henderson, Inga Eiriksdottir and Danielle Redman.

One of the featured models, Inga Eiriksdottir explained, “We had all worked together for many years before our agency closed a lot of their divisions including plus size, which is the one we were in.”

“I contacted the girls I knew and the ones that had been the most successful in the business to see how we could, as a group, have impact on the business.”

“Even if it might sound strange since we [are models], which is a lot about the outside looks, we are more interested in building strong self esteem in women rather then just focusing on the looks” she continues.

“It’s exciting to see the positive change in the industry, and we already see a lot more diversity in age, size and race than before in magazines and on the runways.”

This is a trend that we can definitely get on board with.
