Prep for the party season by practising these gorge hairstyles

It's that time of year again!

It’s well and truly started.

The Christmas lights have been switched on in numerous locations, Christmas markets have launched and as ridiculous as this might sound, I’ve already spotted a fully decorated Christmas tree in one Dublin household.

Now that preparation for the festive season is in full swing, the party invites are starting to arrive and before you know it, you won’t have a night off until January.

Of course, half the fun is picking your outfits with hair and makeup to complement them of course, and we’ve been pouring over Instagram in search of some inspiration.

Here are just some of the hairstyles I’m determined to perfect in time for party season.

The halo braid

It’s not new by any means but that doesn’t mean it’s any less fab.

Parties often involve dancing and that means you need a style that looks good but will also stay in place after a night on your feet.

That’s why I’m obsessed with the halo braid: your locks are up and out of your way, a relief when your hair is as thick as mine and even if some tendrils escape, it only adds to the undone, effortless vibe.

If you’re feeling adventurous, add some glitter to your roots and think about it this way, WHEN else can you dump glitter on your head and get away with it?!

Loose waves

If tearing up the dance floor isn’t your thing, you can totally get away with leaving your hair loose and these boho waves are everything.

All you need is a hair straightener and/or curling tongs and you’re sorted.

Personally, I find a GHD is the best way to perfect pretty waves and although it might take a couple of practice runs, once you get the hang of it, you won’t try any other styling appliance.

Ponytail perfection

Gigi Hadid slaying yet again.

Whether you plait your ponytail or leave it loose, this is one hairstyle that is making waves for party season 2016.

Again, your hair is out of our way and bonus point, this shows your outfit off to perfection, one of the reasons why I’m referring to it as the show pony.

In fairness, it it’s good enough for Gigi, it’s good enough for me.

TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray is a good shout when it comes to a finishing spray as it will hold your hair WITHOUT stickiness or visible residue.

Another advantage of this product is the fact that it’s humidity-resistant, ideal for the clammy unpredictable weather we’re experiencing in Ireland of late.

It’s also great at controlling those pesky flyaway hairs that tend to appear when you’ve spent ages perfecting your mane.
