There has been a lot of iPhone talk this week and poor Samsung have barely got a look in.
That’s probably for the best as Samsung’s new feature has made a lot of users angry.
Blogger Mel Wells took to Instagram to chat about the 'beauty face' filter which comes up as the default filter when the camera is used.
The filter automatically airbrushes the faces of users and eliminates blemishes and marks. While some might welcome the feature, Wells was quick to point out that it gives off the wrong message entirely.
She writes:
“Wow Samsung. When you get a brand new phone and go to take a selfie and realise that the default setting on the front camera is automatically on "Beauty level 8" which evidently means: seriously airbrushed face.”
“Thanks
@samsungmobile for the vote of confidence, I think I'll keep my freckles and imperfections since this is how I look in 3D and this is how all my friends see me in real life. I hope young girls are buying iPhones instead of Samsungs,” says Wells.
The blogger shares a natural image without a filter and the default setting and the differences are striking. With the automatic feature, all freckles are eliminated, skin is smoothened and her eyes seem brighter.
Wells puts her disgust perfectly when she points out that the message here from the technology giant is:
"Hi, we're Samsung and we think you look way better when we automatically airbrush your selfies for you, x 8!!"
Let us know what you think.
