Sandbagging is the makeup technique that will lock your look all day

Watery eye-makeup is a thing of the past.

If like us, you’re familiar with watery runny eye makeup, you’ll want to get acquainted with ‘sandbagging’.

The technique, practised by beauty guru Wayne Goss and Kim Kardashian’s makeup maestro Mario Dedivanovic, is all about a smudge-proof effect. The dream.

In the YouTube video below, Wayne demonstrates how using (a lot of) loose powder under the eyes effectively ‘locks’ the look.

Powder is liberally applied around the eyes and like a sandbag stops water from leaking, this prevents eye makeup from running.

It’s simple enough to perfect too: simply apply your foundation and concealer as normal, then use a makeup sponge to apply powder (think enough so its visible) under the waterline.

Finish off your makeup, eyes and lips, and then use a powder brush to lightly dust the powder off.

Wayne’s video explains how to perfectly set your eyes but the ‘sandbagging’ effect was previously trialed by Mario Dedivanovic, who you’ll find on Instagram.

He used the technique to set Kim K’s lipstick and as you can see from the below post, it results in a flawless finish.
