Six Simple Steps To Get Your Feet Sandal-Ready For Summer

Make your feet sparkle...

Her

It’s finally summer! Before you slip into those new wedges or holiday flip flops, you may want to do something about those dry, cracked heels and tired looking feet that have been hiding away all winter. Are we right?

Scaly winter feet are never pretty and we all want our feet to feel as beautiful as the shoes we’re stepping into.

Here are six steps to get your feet looking and feeling sandal-ready for summer.

1. Soak

Deep clean your feet in a tub of water with a few drops of tea tree oil. Rub your feet with a cloth and soap, and don’t overlook the spaces between your toes, where dirt and dry skin can linger. Your feet will feel revitalised and fresh in no time. Treat yourself to a soak a couple of times a week during the hot summer months – your feet will thank you for it!

2. Exfoliate

Exfoliation is a key part of the getting your feet ready for summer. Ridding your skin of dry patches after a long winter can take time and effort. Find what works best for your feet and get to work. Use a pumice stone, a foot scrub or exfoliating cream to get the job done.

3. Buff

Buff away hard skin to create beautiful and luxuriously soft feet. Try the new Scholl Express Pedi with Diamond Crystals (read our full review here) to buff away hard skin in minutes. Simply roll it across the affected areas for beautiful and luxuriously soft feet. This is a must-do before popping on those sandals.

4. Moisturise

Did you know that the skin on our feet is up to ten times thicker than the rest of our body skin? It therefore requires a much more intensive moisturising routine. Invest in a rich foot cream to give your tootsies the moisturisation they need and deserve. Ideally they should be moisturised after every shower, but if you don’t have time in the morning, give them some TLC before you hop into bed at night.

Top tip: Moisturise along the top and bottom of your feet, but never between the toes – this is perfect place for bacteria to grow, and nobody wants that.

5. Tend to your cuticles

Summer is the most important time of the year to keep your cuticles in check. Apply a cuticle remover (roughly two – three weeks), push back the cuticle and gently trim any hanging skin with cuticle clippers.

6. And finally, make them look pretty!

Get creative and have fun experimenting with new nail polish colours this summer. Invest in toe separators (trust us, they are life savers), and don’t be afraid to reach for those hot pinks and gorgeous coral shades!
