So This Is Why Getting Your Hair Cut Wet Is A Bad Idea

This is news to us.

Getting your hair cut wet is standard practice for most hairdressers but one expert is of the opinion that this is a really bad idea.

Celebrity hairstylist Jon Reyman, who also happens to be the brains behind Spoke & Weal salons, spoke to Pop Sugar recently and explained why he’s an advocate of a dry cut.

As Jon noted, we don’t usually “wear our hair wet” and when your tresses are soaked, each strand appears longer because of elasticity.

REALLY?

So, although your hair might look long after it’s been cut but once you get a blowdry and see the finished style, the change might be more dramatic than you expected.

This is why Jon, cuts his clients hair dry and seeing as he tends to the locks of Sienna Miller and Lana del Rey to name but a few, we’re taking notice of what he has to say.

“A good haircut needs to look good straight, wavy, up, down. If your hair looks excellent smooth and straight, it’s going to look excellent styled in a number of ways”.

When someone wants a big change such as going from a longer to a shorter style, this is where Jon will do a little bit of wet cutting.

Jared might be right…

This allows him to get rid of length quickly before drying the hair and concentrating on the style of cut the person requested.

“Hair that is straight and dry allows me to manage density, length, and texture with an accuracy that wet hair doesn’t provide” said Jon.

We might have to give this a go!
