Sunshine in a bottle: 7 summer fragrances that give us all the vacay vibes

Trine Jensen-Burke

summer fragrances

Feels like summer.

When you live in Ireland – and northern Europe in general – summer is such a short season – and so it’s needless to say we live for these warm, carefree, delicious days.

Floaty dresses, Aperol spritzes, beach trips, back garden BBQs – we cannot get enough and love making the most of these days.

That includes changing out both our beauty routine and our fragrance to match the season we are in.

And right now – we cannot get enough of these seven new summer fragrances that literally make us feel in a sunshine state of mind:

1. Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey Eau & Magnolia

Simple, radiant and delicate, the brand new L’eau D’Issey Eau & Magnolia from Issey Miyake is the perfect summer fragrance.

The velvety softness of a magnolia petal mixed with the freshness of water and bergamot makes this new scent seem like it is bursting with summer and sunshine.

€76, The Perfume Shop

2. Louis Vuitton On The Beach

Yes, it is expensive, but the new On The Beach fragrance by Louis Vuitton is so good, and so unique – it literally smells like a day spent lounging on the beach.

How, you say? Well, the blend of citrus notes (Yuzu, a fruit from Japan, to be exact), and combination of green herbs like rosemary, thyme, and pink pepper, certainly help, and create a “sandy note”, as well as cypress. And can we talk about this gorgeous bottle too?

€190, Louis Vuitton

3. Lancome Idole L’Eau de Parfum Nectar

This fragrance is Lancome’s very first gourmand scent, and – believe it or not – has notes of rose soufflé mixed with a neo-gourmand popcorn accord.

Blended with a floral blast of lusciousness, containing sustainably sourced Isparta Rose and Bourbon Vanilla, this is a scent like you have never smelled before, and we are obsessed.

And just because we love a good perfume bottle, this one really deserves a mention – it is truly something you want sitting out your shelf. The luxurious lines are emphasised by its holographic halo, and – according to Lancome – this fiery peach bottle serves as a powerful reminder to always pursue who you are meant to become.

€89, Boots

4. Nuxe Paris Le Matin des Possibles

Perfect for sunny days – and an instant mood-lifter.

The strong notes of orange blossom in the new Paris Le Matin des Possibles by Nuxe  give it an uplifting and refreshing quality, whilst the brightly coloured yellow bottle just screams summer, we reckon.

5. Victor & Rolf Good Fortune

Inspired by the recent Spiritual Glamour Haute Couture Collection, the new Good Fortune scent by Victor & Rolf is truly unique – and totally bewitching.

The composition opens with fennel accords and co-distilled gentian flower, while in the heart of the fragrance, velvet jasmine notes take centre stage. Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar sits at the base, meaning we cannot think of a sexier perfume for balmy, sultry summer nights.

€69, Brown Thomas

6. Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede Cologne

Think flirtatious, sensual and soft – with the juicy bite of red apple and the opulence of jasmine, rose and gillyflower.

This floral fragrance by Jo Malone is perfect for summer, and feels both luxurious and seductive – and lasts on your skin.

€61, Arnotts

7. Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Arancia di Capri Eau de Toilette

Close your eyes, and you’ll almost believe you strolling around the cobbled streets of Capri, feeling she sun on your skin and smelling the air that is heady with the scent of oranges and salty sea spray.

The Blu Mediterraneo Arancia di Capri by Acqua di Parma is another scent inspired by the Mediterranean, and the scent of oranges feature prominently in the top notes, along with other citrus fruits like mandarin and lemon. What makes this scent unique, however, is the addition of caramel in the bottom notes, making it so utterly irresitible.
