This easy-to-make body scrub will smooth your dry winter skin

You'll have all the ingredients in your kitchen cupboard.

Trine Jensen-Burke

I don’t know about you, but I always find that the winter months really mess with my skin, and leave it feeling overly dry and sensitive.

Which, you know, is bad enough for the actual winter months, but even worse when we move into spring, and my bare arms and legs are on display again in dresses and t-shirts.

There are plenty of gorgeous spa-treatments or expensive products you invest in to combat this, of course, but I have fallen head over heels in love with this easy, peasy DIY scrub, which took me all of five minutes to throw together, yet left my skin the softest it has been in a long time.

Oh, and the smell! I kept offering my arm up to everyone (like, everyone), going; “Smell me, I smell SO good!”

And if you needed another reason to give this a go; know that the delicious ingredients are also the perfect combination for glowing, healthy skin. Coffee (apart from being pure heaven to drink) is renowned for its ability to help stimulate congested areas on the thighs and buttocks, and cocoa is rich in skin protective anti-oxidants as well as magnesium which is helpful for rejuvenating skin tissue. Lastly, the coconut oil will make your skin glow while also giving it a good dose of moisturising fatty acids.

What you need

1 cup of raw sugar
1/2 cup of coconut oil (unrefined)
2-3 tbsps cocoa (depending on how rich you’d like it)
2 tbsps ground coffee

What you do:
Mix all the ingredients together well and store in an airtight jar. This should last up to a couple of months outside of the fridge. To use, massage approx. 2tbsps of mix onto wet skin on the buttocks and thighs.

Note: The oil will make the shower recess very slippery, so be careful.
