Super smooth “liquid hair” is everywhere – here’s how to achieve it

Katy Brennan

The silky smooth look is taking over this season.

Hair so-glossy-it-looks-like-liquid is currently trending and we are officially obsessed.

It’s been spotted on the runway and all over Instagram, sported by celebs like Kim Kardashian, Zendaya and Dua Lipa.

Ultra-smooth, ultra-straight, and totally classy, it’s set to be take over this festive party season as the summer’s beachy waves are long behind us.

The look itself is pretty similar to glass hair, which was everywhere a couple of years back, but liquid hair kicks it up a notch.

One of the best things about this time of year is getting glammed up and this hairstyle is well worth rocking for your festive outings.

So how does one achieve these silky smooth locks?

According to Vogue, getting the liquid look actually isn’t as hard as you might think.

While it may look like something that could only ever be achieved in a salon, it can be done at home too – with the right tools and a little persistence.

It’s all in the preparation, so don’t neglect your general hair care. Winter weather can dry out your hair, so using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner combination is super important.

Otherwise, pop on a hydrating mask or deep conditioning treatment beforehand. Using a product containing keratin will help, as the ingredient works to smooth out your hair.

Start by washing and drying your hair as usual. Once towel dried, apply a hair oil through the lengths of your hair and brush it out. Next, blow-dry all over before using a straightener your hair.

Divide hair into small sections and straighten each chunk one at a time. Go over each section of hair at least 3-4 times – or until you achieve a liquidy-smooth texture.

It’s also worth using a heat protection spray before beginning the straightening process to protect your locks from any damage.

We are 100% trying this for our next night out.
