The Beauty Brand
MAC is all about individuality, artistry and self-expression. Where street savvy makeup meets high-glamour, MAC are all about colour and moving with the trends.
While they are known for their wide range of eyeshadows, their lipstick range has also reached icon status of late and it really feels like The Matte Lip Collection was just the last piece of the puzzle to make MAC your one-stop lipstick destination.
Retro Matte in Antique Velvet
The Beauty Break-through
This permanent range will feature 22 shine-free 'Retro Matte' and 'Matte' finish shades.
Over half of the shades have been previously released or can be found in the permanent range (like Ruby Woo and Please Me), but there are plenty of brand spanking new shades, too.
Our picks of the range are Dangerous for high glamour, Steady Going for every day and Antique Velvet for a dramatic nighttime look.

They Say:
For those who prefer timeless glamour rather than all-out flash, the sophisticated allure of matte reigns supreme. Now, MAC expands its offering of this classic suede-like finish with 12 new shades of Matte and Retro Matte Lipstick. These lipsticks promise a pop of colour that will linger on your lips with impressive staying power.

We Say:
We are totally on board with this trend. We love the huge difference simply substituting your gloss for a matte shade can achieve. If you want to change up your look, without going for a complete makeover, then we definitely recommend trying these out.
Gloss-addicts might imagine that a matte lip would be dull or drab but that is not the case. This look is surprisingly versatile, the shades are certainly not boring and it will work on any skintone.
*Top Tip* - Matte shades can have a tendency to be quite drying so make sure you prime with a lip balm beforehand and keep it on hand for touch-ups during the day.
We are so happy that these are here to stay - matte-r of fact.Explore more on these topics:
