The Blow-Dry Mistake We Just Keep On Making

OOPS.

Cathy Donohue

Busy morning schedules mean that devoting time to a blow-dry isn’t always possible.

However, if you’re rushing to get your hair dry, chances are you’ll have the heat up to the last and the hairdryer super close to your head.

Your locks might dry quicker but this hair professional says holding the dryer too close to your head can do “real damage”.

George Gonzalez, Chicago salon owner, spoke to She Finds and revealed that doing this, especially with a metal brush, can leave hair “dried-out from heat”.

Intense hydrating masques and conditioners can help restore moisture but if your hair is seriously stressed out, the best solution is to cut it “so that new hair can grow in”.

Hair Drying
Ooopssss….

We’re not talking a dramatic lob or anything but if your hair has sustained a lot of heat damage, then you will need to lose the dead ends, at the very least.”

Thankfully, the solution is relatively simple and George recommends “pulling the dryer away from the brush and not letting it touch the hair directly”.

Another tip is to avoid the highest heat setting and if you must use it, (a tip I’ve gleaned myself from having a fuzzy mane) is to switch between low and high temperatures so your hair isn’t completely dehydrated once you’re finished styling.
