The easy-to-wear hair trend that brunette gals will love

WANT.

Cathy Donohue

While I’m all about the hair trends, not all of them are wearable with denim hair proving a good example.

While blue hair is cool, it’s very hard to maintain and it’s a look you can become very bored of, very quickly.

Thankfully, a new hair trend has arrived and it is GORGEOUS and so easy to wear, which is an important factor.

It’s called ‘honey blonde’ and it’s all about taking brown hair up a few notches.

So, if you have brown hair and don’t really know what to do with it, this is one trend you’ll love because it’s a soft, light, natural take on what you have already.

Speaking to Byrdie, colourist Marie Robinson, explained what honey blonde hair is all about:

“Hair colour is taught in levels one through 10, with one being the darkest brown/black and 10 being the palest blonde/white.

“The lighter you go from naturally dark hair, the more comprised or damaged it might become.

“Honey falls in the middle. It will give you the sense of being blonder without the damage.”

It’s ideal then if you want a bit of a change but you don’t want to risk damaging your locks.

How do you go about it?

Nicole Tresch, a NYC-based colourist, recommends highlights, with a gradual build-up, and caramel shades are usually a good starting point.

“Ask for subtle caramel highlights the first time, keeping the focus concentrated at the ends and through the mid-shaft.

“Keeping some depth in roots will allow you to still feel like yourself”.

If this is a look you like, you can add more the next time you visit your hairdresser.

Having scrolled through Instagram and spotted some gorgeous honey blonde shots, I’m already planning my next hair appointment.
