The Expert Advice That Should Stop Your Manicure From Chipping

FINALLY.

Cathy Donohue

Chipped nails make us sad.

There’s nothing worse than taking time out to give yourself a manicure and it barely lasts a day.

We’ve tried everything from base coats to top coats to long-lasting polishes but NOTHING works.

Thanks to Allure, we’ve come across one expert tip: don’t load up the brush with too much product.

Deborah Lippmann, a name that’s likely to be familiar to beauty buffs, says that going overboard with the first coat of varnish often results in a gloopy, streaky effect.

This is even worse when applying bright colour so Lippmann advises building up the colour intensity by applying several thin layers.

The expert manicurist says: “The true color will come around on the second layer.

“Three is even better. But the key is to paint the layers as thinly as possible, “and really let each dry for a minute to a minute and a half in between.

“It’ll give you longer wear, better shine, and no bubbles” continued Lippmann.
