“Most primers are silicone-based and the silicone lays on top of your skin. "It helps smooth over pores but can also trap sweat and oils in them, causing breakouts. Save them for special events or when you feel like your skin texture needs a bit of help".
*Alarm bells*
So the makeup product you thought was doing great things for your skin can actually contribute to blemishes, FAB.
If you do use a silicone-based primer, MAC Prep + Prime, for example, Allan recommends using a cleanser that can properly remove the product each evening.
Try a clarifying cleanser like IMAGE Skincare's Clarifying Clear Cell Gel Cleanser, €35, as it removes makeup while gently exfoliating skin so you can ensure all evidence of primer is properly eliminated.
