Another stunning hair trend for 2018.
From fallayage to bronde, there’s some gorgeous hair looks around at the moment and we’re seriously tempted to book a hairdresser’s appointment asap.
The latest one grabbing our attention is dark espresso and if you’re a brunette in need of a hair makeover (I know I’m not the only one) then this might be for you.
As you’ve probably guessed from the name, dark espresso is a rich, striking deep brown which is lifted a few shades by the addition of soft caramel highlights.
It’s perfect if you love your brown hair but want to add a little extra depth and try a new colour, without completely committing to a radical change.
If you want to discuss this hair trend with your hairdresser, colourist to many a celebrity, George Papanikolas has the downlow.
Chatting with Byrdie, he explained that you should ask for a dark base but it’s extremely important that it works with your skin tone and doesn’t wash you out.
Then, you’ll want subtle highlights “about two shades lighter” and most importantly for brunettes, and the quantity used is crucial to the success of this particular trend.
Papanikolas explains:
“You do not need a lot [of highlights], less is more because you want the overall base to be darker and stand out more”.
He maintains that the highlights should “accent the cut” which is important to discuss with your colourist so that he\she knows exactly what you want.
Adding depth.
An ombré twist.
Chesnut brown/ dark espresso.
