The Unusual Contouring Trend That Has Hit The NYFW Catwalk

Don't think we'll be wearing this down to the shops.

We are big fans of step-by-step tutorials here in Her Towers.

Kim Kardashian regularly posts snaps of her contouring steps to Instagram, and we love getting the inside scoop on exactly how she chisels those cheekbones.

Now, clothing brand Hood by Air has taken unfinished beauty to the next level, and sent its models out on the runway with unblended contouring on display.

The young brand’s show has become one of the hottest tickets at New York Fashion Week and is known for championing unique, original beauty looks.

The look was debuted on NYFW catwalk.

Their Spring 2016 offering demonstrated an unusual twist on not only the Kardashians, but Friends too.

Nineties zig-zag hair partings and half-up-half-down ponytails dominated, in an unusual tribute to the sitcom.

The look was inspired by the Kardashians.

Hairstylist Amy Farid explained: “The aesthetic of Hood by Air was infused by cosmetic surgery and scarring.

“We’re interpreting that by using the zigzag part to mimic a scar, and also having fun and making it beautiful by referencing Friends’.

While we don’t see this look translating to the high street any time soon, we love the creativity and uncomfortable familiarity behind it!
