There’s A New Take On The French Manicure

We really like this!

Cathy Donohue

In recent times, the French manicure has lost favour thanks to the abundance of nail art, gel overlays and vibrant colours available now.

However, it’s made somewhat of a comeback on the New York runways this week and we’re loving the new take on the trend.

Instead of the usual white on the nail tip, nail technicians have opted for a bare nail with a swipe of block colour on top and it’s fabulous.

Monique Llhuillier stayed with with the spring summer vibe and models sported nails adorned with a splash of vibrant green.

We also loved Cuisine et Ochs’ offering, a vampy version of the standard French manicure.

Tibi (which just so happened to be one of our favourite NYFW shows) had another take on the trend but it’s a little more complicated to perfect.

It includes a swipe of bright green across the nail tip but the difference is a tiny space in the centre of the nail.

This might sound simple but it’s one that will take lots of practice. However, the end result is well worth the effort.
