There’s a new type of balayage and brunettes will LOVE it

new type of balayage

Forget balayage, meet fallayage.

The delightful new hair trend is inspired by the changing seasons and how you can adapt your hair to suit.

Although balayage traditionally draws from gold and caramel shades, the new ‘fallayage’ includes a mix of copper, brown and auburn colours.

It’s a trend brunettes will love and is ideal for anyone who wants something different to your traditional honey tones.

Speaking about the trend, Francesca Dixon, a London-based senior creative colourist described how fallayage works.

Chatting to Refinery 29, she said:

“Inspired by autumnal tones, fallayage incorporates seasonal hues of copper, auburn, and golden browns to give a dimensional, warm, and voluminous result”.

Although the idea of balayage and fallayage are very similar, there’s one difference.

Instead of brightening up your hair, fallayage is all about adding definition and by choosing the most flattering shades for your skintone, you can achieve a stunning effect.

“By adding in lowlights matched to your natural colour, it breaks up blockiness often created by natural lightning from the summer sun.”

It’s about warmth and depth and how you can use choose shades that work with your hair’s natural colour.

As you can see from these Instagram posts, it’s truly stunning and we think it might be a shade that will prove very popular this year.
