This dramatic but gorgeous hair trend is aimed at brown-haired gals

Would you rock it?

Brown-haired gals, listen up.

It’s been a while since we featured a hair trend (after multiple looks in 2016) but there’s one we’ve spotted that’s perfect for winter.

It’s aimed specifically at brunettes and experts have coined the term “oil slick” to describe the shimmering colour effect.

Pastel hues don’t take to dark hair in the same way as lighter locks so these inky tones are perfect for brunettes.

Hair stylist Aura Freidman, a New-York based colour expert, coined the look.

Explaining how to create it, the hair guru told Pop Sugar:

“I find that when you take a dark purple and a dark green and layer them one on top of the other, you end up with this iridescent feeling”.

Aura also went into detail about why the trend is such a perfect fit for brunettes.

“It will also be great for people who naturally have dark hair and don’t want to go through a major bleaching process. You don’t have to lighten it so much to get it there, so your hair will be in better condition”.

If rainbow hair is too much for you or your locks are too dark to take the light hues, then this softer take on the trend might be what you’re looking for.

Here are a few more examples of how stunning this look is.
