This everyday drink that we all rely on could be causing breakouts

This is a hard one to give up though.

Not ideal.

Milk is an everyday staple, whether you add it to your cereal or need a frothy latte to properly wake up each morning.

However, it might be having an unwanted effect on your skin, the low-fat version in particular.

Spotted on Women’s Health, research published in the Journal of the Academy of Dermatology found a link between consuming skimmed milk and the development of acne.

225 people, aged between 14 and 19 with acne ranging from moderate to severe, took part in the study.

Their diets and eating habits were taken into consideration with the results showing that those who consumed more skimmed milk suffered worse bouts of acne.

Interestingly, those who had less acne either stuck with full-fat regular dairy milk or else soy and almond alternatives.

The overall conclusion was that “consumption of low-fat/skim milk, but not full-fat milk, was positively associated with acne”.

Of course, there are a number of factors associated with acne including junk food, high sugar intake, stress and hormonal imbalances but on this occasion, skimmed milk was found to be the main culprit.
