Dry Shampoo Not Working Properly? You’re Probably Missing This Simple Step

Spray on the roots, rub in and brush out, right? WRONG.

Megan Cassidy

Dry shampoo has been a god-send.

It has literally transformed our beauty routines, allowing oily-haired ladies SOME sort of a quality of life, for crying out loud.

That might sound hyperbolic, but that little bottle comes everywhere with us and there is genuine panic when we leave it at home.

However, if you don’t feel your product is doing all that it should for your tresses, it could be down to this simple mistake.

While we all know to spray the product on the roots and then brush it out, we were leaving out a simple step – let the product soak in for a few minutes.

Giving the shampoo a few moments to really soak up all the grease can make the world of difference to its staying power.

Before you panic about adding extra minutes to your beauty routine, we suggest spraying the dry shampoo, then going back and doing your lipstick/mascara/powder, and then returning to brush it out a few minutes later.

Another valid point spotted in Seventeenis that you CAN overuse dry shampoo, resulting in product buildup and itchy, flaky scalp.

Only use it on the second or third day rather than the same day that you’ve washed it, and that way you’ll get more out of it when you do really need it, without the nasty side effects.

Now, go forth and be glorious.
