Woman forced to shave her head after shampoo was ‘spiked’ with hair removal cream

She has since filed a police report.

A woman has been forced to shave her head after her shampoo was allegedly spiked with hair removal cream.

Ashley Robinson purchased a bottle of Pro-V Sheer Volume in her local Walmart in the US state of Wisconsin on Sunday. She used the conditioner when she arrived home, letting it sit for the recommended 10 minutes.

When she began to wash the conditioner out, she found that her hair was falling out “in massive clumps.”

“As she exited the shower, she realised that her hair had a foul odour to it, so she re-entered the shower and began washing it again,” read a GoFundMe set up by Ashley’s friends.

“At this point, Ashley’s hair began falling out in massive clumps. It is believed that the conditioner was tampered with and someone put some sort of chemical depilatory cream inside of it, such as Nair or Veet.

“It should be noted that Ashley lives alone and there is no way someone could have tampered with the product when it was in her home.”

Ashley filed a police report before attending the emergency room for her “red and irritated scalp.”

She also attempted to get hair extensions put in to cover some of her bald patches, but it was likely that the weight of the extensions would have pulled her remaining hair out.

“Ashley’s hair is still shedding and her scalp is still irritated,” read the original GoFundMe, which was shared before Ashley shaved her head.

“She has come to the heartbreaking realisation that her only option at this point is to shave her head. Hair is such a part of our personal identity and having to lose all of it without expectation or choice is an incredibly traumatic experience.”

Ashley’s friend said that she set up the fundraiser to help her pay for wigs, as well as potential medical costs and legal fees.

The GoFundMe has raised almost $1,500.
