Thinking of booking a sunbed session? It’s time to reconsider…
Who doesn’t love a warm, golden tan? Whether you’re just back from holidays, treated yourself to a spray tan or lathered it on straight out of the bottle – we all have our own methods of covering up our pasty Irish skin.
One method of tanning proved to be extremely detrimental to American nurse, Jade Thrasher – with gruesome consequences.
Thrasher, 26, recalls using sunbeds since she was 13, spending 20 minutes at a time and three times a week.
In 2014, a spot kept reappearing on Thrasher’s nose, which would pop up, burst and fail to heal.
Doctors diagnosed Thrasher with skin cancer and revealed they would have to remove the cells – the cancerous ones being situated on Thrasher’s nose.
Thrasher took selfies of her nose post-op in a bid to warn others about the dangers of sunbeds and skin cancer.

Speaking to metro.co.uk, she told of how doctors used skin from her chest to cover her nose.
“After surgery, for three weeks I could not bend over or do anything for myself because the graft on my sore was so crucial that I wasn’t allowed to apply pressure to my head”, she said.
Value your nose? Then stay away from sunbeds, ladies.
