Some people often use the nickname 'war paint' when referring to makeup, and never has the term been so fitting.
This is the image that sparked an entire thread of serious debate when it was uploaded online.
A photograph of the auburn-haired, pale and freckle faced female without makeup was accompanied by a contrasting glamorous fully painted image to shows just what a little, or arguably a lot of makeup can do for a person.
Reddit user water_anus posted these photographs side-by-side to highlight the stark transformation, with a simple caption, "Make-up. That's it."
With over 4,000 comments, an array of cynical and cruel observations about the woman's unsmiling face and glum expression, others commending the skill of the makeup artist and even the odd person confused by the whole thing entirely, "Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is contouring?" The main debate the 'before' and 'after' image brought up, was the issue of trust.
Here are some of the comments:
"This post shows to not trust one's looks."
"This. This is why I don't take women from the bar home."
"Between makeup and Spanx you can't believe anything you see any more."
"Gotta love the anti-makeup circle jerk. Someone finds a way to look on the outside how they feel on the inside and everyone wants to shit on it. Some people can't just work out and eat right to be prettier and no matter what lie you want to tell yourself; looks still matter."
"See girls? You are just as pretty as the women in magazines."
