Mark Zuckerberg has emailed all Facebook staff ordering them to stop defacing ‘Black Lives Matter’ slogans across their offices.

Facebook allow members of staff to write messages of empowerment on their walls, encouraging the office to voice their concerns.

An internal memo, shared by The Telegraph, shows Zuckerberg addressing staff at the social network’s headquarters as acting in an “unacceptable”, “disrespectful” and “malicious” manner by scratching out the ‘Black Live Matter’ message to read ‘All Lives Matter’:

Zuckerberg highlighted that there had been ‘several recent incidents’ where staff had crossed out the ‘Black Lives Matter’ message, referring to the social movement petitioning against violence towards black people.

In the memo, Facebook has vowed to investigate the activity as part of their ethos to serve as ‘a community where everyone is treated with respect.’

According to The Telegraph, two percent of Facebook’s US employees are black. The company has vowed to hire more women and minority staff as part of its most recent diversity report.
