Rakim Mayers was said to be involved in a shooting in LA on 6 November

A$AP Rocky was reportedly detained Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport in connection to a November 2021 shooting.


The rapper, real name, Rakim Mayers, was arriving on a private plane from Barbados, where he had been vacationing with his girlfriend, Rihanna, NBC News reported.

TMZ reported that Mayers, who flew into LAX in a private jet, was met by police at the terminal and led away in handcuffs. The publisher said it had been told the F***** Problems singer was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon with a gun.

Mayers had been under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department for a shooting near Vista Del Mar and Selma Avenue in Los Angeles on November 6.

According to the broadcaster, the alleged victim of the shooting, who survived, told police that Mayers, who was walking with two others, approached him with a handgun on the street.


According to police reports, the victim claimed Mayers shot at him three to four times and believed one of the bullets grazed his left hand.

The shooting had not previously been reported in the media.

LAPD made the arrest with assistance from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations team, NBC said.
