“I called 911 because she never would.”

A close friend of Amber Heard has written about her decision to inform authorities of the abuse Johnny Depp inflicted on her.

Artist iO Tillett Wright wrote a blog post in which she states she bore witness to attacks and was on the phone the night Depp allegedly abused Heard.

Wright is an artist and popular LGBT activist who has presented TED talks on the theme of sexuality and identity. In the blog post obtained by TMZ, Wright relays accounts of the times Depp abused Heard.

Wright reveals that she called 911 the night of the alleged attack.

“I called 911 because she never would. Because every time it happened, her first thought was about protecting him” she wrote.

Wright also states she was aware of other accounts of abuse including one in December.

“I know this because I went to their house. I saw the pillow with my own eyes. I saw the busted lip and the clumps of hair on the floor” she writes about a time when Depp allegedly attacked Heard.

Wright also says she was on the phone with Heard the night of a recent attack and heard the attack.

“I was on the phone with both of them and heard it drop, heard him say, ‘What if I pulled your hair back?’ and her scream for my help, I wondered like so many times before if I should break the code of silence that surrounds celebrities and invite the police into the situation.”

Wright explains she made the call to authorities because ultimately she “had to stand up” for a friend.
