Experts in the UK have advised the elderly to “listen to One Direction” to avoid depression and enjoy old age.

According to Unreality TV, members of Age UK, the Alzheimer’s Society and research group The International Longevity Centre put together the document for over 50s to help them avoid depression and struggle in later life.

As well as advising them to get more exercise and build a social circle close to where they live, readers are also told to engage with young people and immerse themselves in popular culture.

“Keep your mind active and engaged, from new digital technology through to new attitudes,” said the experts.

“Make sure you aren’t missing out and take every opportunity to talk to younger people. Try to get yourself online. Listen to One Direction (at least once).”
