Speaking to host Diane Sawyer in the interview released this week, Bruce said:
“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman. My heart and my soul and all I do in life, that is part of me".
He also revealed how Kim was the first Kardashian to learn his secret, after she found him dressed in women’s clothing. He added that the reality star had been especially supportive of his decision.
In her first interview since Bruce’s interview, Kim told the Today show:
“I think there is still an adjustment and there's, you know, family therapy. And we're really close. You know, I - I see reports that say, you know, "This one doesn't support him," and, "This one's over here," and my mom, "feels this way." And it's all really so made up.”
Younger sister Kendall also took to social media to respond to the media reaction of her father’s interview.
Showing her support to Bruce, Kendall posted an Instagram snap of a homework assignment from the fifth grade, captioning the sweet note:
‘I wrote this in 5th grade... nothing has changed.’
Bruce has said he made the decision to publicly address his decision to transition, saying he hoped it would support others in the same situation: “What I’m doing is going to do some good and we’re going to change the world. “I had this feeling—kind of a revelation—that maybe this is my cause in life. “This is why God put me on this earth, is to deal with this issue. And that was a very powerful moment. It certainly gave me an awful lot of courage.”
