It’s fair to say that Hozier has garnered a dedicated band of female admirers since he arrived on the music scene but it doesn’t look like he’ll be stepping out with a new girlfriend any time soon.
The Someone New singer has revealed that he is making every effort to keep his recent success in perspective and is afraid of being too happy in case he loses inspiration for his music.
“Good news hits you – it can take a while to sink in. I’ve been nominated for a Grammy? Great! You have to allow yourself a moment to enjoy it, but it’s not good to pat yourself on the back when everyone else is doing that,” he said.
“Of course, the great fear is getting too happy and never being able to write another song. I suppose I’ll just avoid happiness at all costs and then I’ll still have material to work from.”
The Bray man was previously linked with Taylor Swift but while he had denied that there was any romance between the two, he thanked the megastar for her support following the release of his debut album in the US.
“Taylor’s support was great. I really did see a crossover of fans from that moment on. She has more followers than God, and you will see them go where she says, you see it on Twitter.
“My phone went crazy the first time she tweeted a link to one of my songs. It’s really something, and I was very grateful. Word of mouth is still very important.”
