They do say ‘never meet your heroes’.
We’ve all had those awkward encounters with someone from our past – either they have absolutely no idea who we are or we’re looking blindly at them trying to figure out how we know each other.
Well, that was exactly what happened to Kesha last night at the National Night of Laughter and Song at the Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C. when she approached Jerry Seinfeld.
While giving an interview on the red carpet, Seinfeld was interrupted by some stranger who asked him for a hug, that ‘stranger’ being superfan, Kesha.
“Oh my gosh, I love you so much,” Kesha says in the clip uploaded to Twitter. “Can I give you a hug?”
Then things take a fairly awkward turn as Seinfeld starts shaking his head and saying “No, thanks”. However, asking again, the actor then ducks out of her reach in what makes for some truly cringe-worthy viewing.

After a few more attempts to get her hug, Kesha then scurried off into the background mortified, leaving Seinfeld awkwardly laughing.
“I don’t know who that was,” he said of the interaction.
Even though the interviewer eventually informs the actor who the strange lady was, the damage was already done.
Poor Kesha!
