Clueless is on TV tonight and that’s our Saturday evening sorted

'Clueless' is getting remade and all of our 90s dreams have just come true

Pass the popcorn.

The weather has been getting colder and colder, so the temptation to stay in and watch a movie has been seriously real.

Thankfully, Comedy Central have come to the rescue and are showing one of our favourite movies tonight – and we’re totally buggin’. Yes, that’s right: Clueless is on (at 8pm, FYI – so you’ve still got some time to grab snacks).

The movie follows Cher Horowitz, a 15-year-old high-school student, who tries to boost the popularity of Tai, the new girl at school. However, “affairs of the heart” soon get in the way – and Cher soon ends up navigating the pitfalls of dating and popularity in high school.

Basically, it is the perfect movie for a Saturday night.

It comes as it emerged a reboot of the iconic ’90s comedy was in the works.

According to Deadlinethe project is like “Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo music video” and – much like the original film – would be set in high school.

The series would look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her best pal and life-long right hand woman, Dionne, takes her place.

But how does she deal with the pressures of being the most popular girl in school, while also trying to uncover the mystery of what happened to Cher?

There is no network attached to the project just yet, although the publication confirms “multiple streamers and the CW” have shown strong interest in it.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Cher, Dionne et al. hit the small screen, either.

In 1996, there was a half hour comedy series Clueless, created by the film’s original writer and director Amy Heckerling. It ran for a total of three seasons.
