One of our all time favourite love stories is the story of young Sam and Joanna in Love Actually.
A besotted young Sam seeks the advice of his grieving step father Daniel (Liam Neeson) to win the affections of his first crush Joanna.
Daniel is connected to the story through his friendship with Karen (Emma Thompson). Long-time friends, Karen helps Daniel through his heartbreak at the recent death of his wife. While giving his stepson advice, he jokes that he loves Claudia Schiffer and that he would only consider dating her. Meanwhile, his BFF Karen’s marriage is in disarray as her husband is taking a fancy on some young receptionist.
ANYWAY, as we know, the focus is on Sam and Joanna and in an emotional scene where Sam pursues Joanna, a flustered Daniel (Liam Neeson remember) meets the one and only Claudia Schiffer. Except its not Claudia Schiffer, its Claudia Schiffer playing a woman named Carol who’s mother to a child in Sam’s class. Daniel (Liam) is temporarily astounded by her beauty but as he leaves, he calls Carol Karen. ERGO DANIEL HAS BEEN IN LOVE WITH KAREN THIS WHOLE TIME.

Now despite taking six years to realise, we can finally rest assured knowing Karen probably left her promiscuous husband and ran into Daniels open and loving arms.
