Disney has dropped its magical new Christmas ad

Christmas advert season is officially here.

Disney has released its new Christmas ad for 2021 and be warned - it's a tear-jerker.

The heartwarming ad tells the story of a stepfather navigating his first festive season with his partner and his new stepchildren.

Aptly titled The Stepdad, it acts as a sequel to Disney's 2020 Christmas ad - which told the story of Lola and her granddaughter Nicole.

This year, Nicole is all grown up with a family of her own. The three-minute ad shows her children, Max and Ella, adjust to their new stepdad moving in.

Viewers witness several moments from the family's new life as they embrace festive traditions and make a few new ones along the way.

Throughout the ad we see a magical storybook which brings the classic Disney stories we know and love to life right before the family's eyes.

According to Disney: "The book celebrates how the power of storytelling can deepen family bonds, and the magic that reading together creates as stories from Disney and Pixar lift off from the pages igniting the family’s shared imagination and wonder."

The song for the ad is called Love Runs Deeper and is performed by two-time Grammy Award winner Gregory Porter, who composed the song exclusively for the ad.

"The lyrics of the track are so powerful, and underline that behind everything there is love," Gregory said.

"When I read the first line of Love Runs Deeper, 'When you open the door, I will be standing there', I was truly moved by its emotion and storytelling. I knew I needed to be involved with this campaign and support Make A Wish.”

This year's ad is part of Disney's From Our Family To Yours campaign, which supports the company's long-term partner Make A Wish - a charity that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening conditions.
