EastEnders viewers in tears after beloved character is killed off

EastEnders viewers were left in floods of tears following the death of Lola. Last night's episode was quite a tear-jerker as Lola's loved ones gathered to say their goodbyes to the 27-year-old. The young mum was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier in the season but tragically passed away in Wednesday's episode.
Viewers were heartbroken as they watched Lola die with her young daughter Lexi sleeping beside her.
Fans of the soap expressed their heartbreak on Twitter following the emotional episode. Many praised the show for handling the storyline with such grace and respect.

One said, "This was a heartbreaking episode from personal experience losing a loved one you never get over it stays with you and these scenes were just done so incredibly well by all involved."
Another added, "In absolute pieces after tonight's episode. Thank you for handling this storyline with such sensitivity. It was a very hard watch, and it's nearly 4 years since I said my final goodbye to my wonderful Mum. I hope it helps other families."
EastEnders actress Danielle Harold said Lola's brain cancer storyline was one of the toughest moments of her career.
However, she also said filming these episodes was an incredible experience.
"The best memories with the best crew," she wrote.
The actress has been nominated for a Soap Award for 'Best Leading Performer' following the moving storyline.
