Sometimes Irish people fall into the trap of thinking that people outside of the country know as much about it as those of us who have lived here our entire lives. That said, of the things that people do know about Ireland, Aer Lingus would be close to the top of the list, although Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest of Live with Kelly and Ryan seemed a little confused about its meaning on Tuesday morning. Discussing the disruption caused by a number of airlines swapping terminals at LAX recently, Seacrest mentioned a host of air carriers that had been affected as a result, including Aer Lingus, before the conversation took a strange turn. “It would be much easier if you’re flying anywhere in America... American," Seacrest said. "If you’re going to Canada, Air Canada. What’s the other one? If you’re going to Lingus, Aer Lingus. “I don’t know where that is. For the record, the name Aer Lingus derives from the Irish term ‘aerloingeas’ which translates as ‘air fleet’. But you already knew that, right? Right?!!
