Matt Damon was on Spin 1038 chatting about Leo Varadkar this morning, because of course

Just when you thought the world couldn't get any stranger...

Matt Damon was on Spin 1038 this morning chatting about Leo Varadkar, Covid-19, and his time living in Dalkey.

The Hollywood actor has been held up in the Dublin seaside suburb since the coronavirus outbreak began, and was recently seemingly convinced by Bono (yes, Bono) to give an exclusive interview to the Dublin radio station.

Spin 1038's Fully Charged has been on a mission to get Damon on the show since word broke that he was going to be shacked up in Ireland for the foreseeable future.

And oh, did Matt Damon deliver.

"You've got a president who just goes to the hospital and starts working!" he said on the radio show this morning.

"I mean what a badass, it's just on another level."

Leo'll love that, yeah.

Damon said that he was aware of the campaign to get him on the show, but that he was waiting to hear the number to call while he was listening to the radio.

Eventually, he said, it was Bono who told him to contact Spin.

"He said to me last week, 'You know there's a radio station that's looking for you,'" he said. "I was like, 'I really gotta track those guys down, I gotta call into that show. It's gone on too long.'"

Damon also confirmed that his eldest daughter had contracted coronavirus while in New York.

The Hollywood actor, his wife, and three youngest children have been living in Dalkey since March, but Damon's eldest daughter, Alexia, remains in the States.

The actor said that she and her roommates tested positive for the virus but they "got through it fine."

"We’ve got the three younger ones and our oldest one," he said, we’ll reunite with her at the end of the month. Everybody's okay.

"We’re going to go back to Los Angeles and [Alexia's] going to come out so we’ll all be together and figure out what the heck we’re going to do. It’s such an odd limbo that we’re all in."

It truly is, Matt. It truly is.
