Who doesn’t remember that video?

Beyoncé’s father and former manager, Matthew Knowles, made an appearance on Good Morning Britain this morning to talk about his new book Racism from the Eyes of a Child.

However, it wasn’t long before hosts Kate Garraway and Jeremy Kyle asked about one of the most shocking moments in his daughters’ careers – that elevator video.

Footage of Solange physically fighting with Jay Z in an elevator after the Met Gala leaked back in 2014 and shocked media outlets and fans alike.

Speaking of the infamous incident this morning, Matthew Knowles looked uncomfortable as he tried to formulate an answer, saying:

“I hope and I feel very calm about this and comfortable that both Solange and Beyoncé were given the tools that they need to be successful.

“Are they going to make mistakes? Absolutely. But mistakes are an opportunity to grow, not a reason to quit.

“And so I feel comfortable about that.”

The family’s official statement about the incident at the time was that “Jay Z and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what occurred”.

Since then, Jay Z has briefly spoken about the altercation saying that it was the only time he and Solange fought and that she is not his sister-in-law but his sister.
